Having your headshot taken (especially for the first time), is often a scary prospect. In this short blog I wanted to explain into my booking and shooting process so that you know exactly what getting your headshot taken entails. This will hopefully put your mind at ease a little so you can relax and focus on enjoying your shoot!

Booking
Once you’ve decided to go ahead and have your headshot taken you’ll book in through the packages section of my website. You’ll have a few packages to choose from but the main difference between them is the number of images taken, edited, and provided for you to use. As you book you’ll see my availability and select your shoot slot from my booking calendar. You’ll then pay £40 up front as a deposit to reserve your slot (you’ll pay the rest on the day of the shoot).
Once you’ve done this you’re all booked in! You’ll receive a confirmation email straight away with all the information needed for your shoot. Information like my home studio address, how to prepare for the shoot, what clothes to bring, and the facilities available at my home studio will all be included within this email.
48 hours prior to the shoot you’ll then receive a final email making sure you’re all ready to go!
At any point through the process above you’ll always be able to get in touch via email or social media with any questions you have.
Shoot Day
This is where it gets really exciting! Upon arrival I’ll offer you a drink and we’ll have a quick chat in the kitchen as to your background, your previous headshot experience (if you’ve had any), and what types of images you’re after. This will give me a good idea as to what we need to focus on during the session.
I’ll then show you where the bathroom is, you can hang up any tops/clothes you’ve brought, and get ready for the first set of shots. You’ll then be able to head back to the bathroom to get changed, use the mirror for makeup, or anything else you need throughout the session.
We’ll then get settled in the studio and I’ll take a few test shots to make sure we’re all good to go! Once we’ve done this it’s full steam ahead! We’ll try different poses, looks, backdrops, and I’ll pull you out at points throughout the shoot to go through the images on my PC. This means we can make sure we’re getting the shots we need, and pick the poses/looks you’re enjoying and work on them a little more. Dependant on your previous experience, I'll guide you through posing and expressions etc. so don't worry too much about this prior to your shoot.
Post Shoot
Within 24 hours of the shoot I’ll then send over all of the shots we took via email. These will be housed within a password protected online gallery. Within this gallery you’ll then get to choose your favourite images. Once you’ve done this I’ll edit and send over your favourite images within 2 weeks!
You’ll then have your final images to do with as you please!
